You should read the Statute of Anne that established copyright to the benefit of authors in a day when being an author was mostly a dilettante and occupational entertainment. Few were only living on their writing. Many were living on their family estates. And yet it is the first document that states authors are robbed, burglarized in their very work as authors. Nothing new under the sun. Except that paper- or e-books are NOT the only media today on which you can be an author, even a creative author.
