What a male WASP-dominated vision!

STEVEN SPIELBERG — FALLING SKIES — 2009–2011–2015
The Earth invaded and colonized by an extraterrestrial species, the Esphenis. They enslave humans in two ways. First by attaching — or yoking — some live organic device on their backbone, and second by skitterizing other humans using genetic elements to transform the humans into skitters. Skitters are also slaves but essentially slave warriors for the Esphenis. They have six legs and walk in a strange way like spiders, I guess. Some skitters are looking after groups of six human children that have been yoked as said before, establishing with these yoked children a sort of parental relationship that makes the yoked kids dependent. A third attempt was developed at one time in the series. Capturing young children or teens and bringing them into an Espheni school where they are educated, meaning indoctrinated into collaborating with Esphenis. There was another possibility with the daughter of Tom Mason and Anne Glass, Lexi is her shortened name. She was born with Espheni DNA in her. No clear explanation is given how this impregnation could have occurred. Right to the end, and her final destruction, she is referred to as the daughter of both Anne and Tom. Lexi was instrumental in the project of gathering some humans in peace in some privileged colonies where they could live in affluence and even wealth but accept the Espheni rule and Lexi as their prophet or protector. Note Lexi is the first female human used by the Esphenis. In the school for kids, the leader is a male human. I guess this Lexi is a way to move us toward the idea that this alien species is led by a Queen that will only appear in the last season. Note Lexi had become, for a while, the supreme overlord of the Esphenis “residing” in the vicinity of Tom Mason’s and Dan Weaver’s Massachusetts 2.

To stay on this remark about women, on the side of Tom Mason’s resisting group, women are essential especially with Doctor Anne Glass who is the main doctor all along. She is also the woman who gave birth to Tom’s daughter, Lexi, in unclear conditions. Women in the series are often graphically depicted in their ends, and Lexi is…
