To regulate Amazon, Microsoft, Google or Facebook is impossible at the global level and it is vain at the US level. What we need is a global regulation of various data collecting and data using services, global regulation of the collection, circulation, and use of data, both private and public if the two can be clearly discriminated. The Chinese have won the battle because they targeted the people and what they want: they want security, peace, quiet, etc. But in the west we are doomed by our racist approach of any problem of the type, including in countries were racism is a crime. In the west our companies in the field, those you name, are only interested in the !money they want to make. Look at Google+. They do not have any consideration about the daily life of people except if it can bring in more profit, more money, not even commercial money, just plain advertising money or speculative money. The Chinese have it right. We have it wrong. But our peoples want the same things as the Chinese. So we will have to buy the “intellectual property” of the Chinese. Trump’s fake battle about intellectual property is just passé, obsolete. Ask Westinghouse how much they are going to make with the Chinese EPR based on Westinghouse technology. And here again they opened their first EPR nuclear plant last year and the French, the only competitor have still not opened the one in Finland and the one in France they are building. The price of electricity is going to go down 25 or 50% in China and they will be able to close a great number of coal-burning power stations. Good management in China versus bad management in the west.
