Information operates on Darwinian principles. Those ideas best fitted to their environment survive, spread, and evolve. Those which are not, die out. Except for the narrative power of the idea of truth — itself a type of story — there is not much that favors truth over lies in the process of memetic natural selection.
This is important though I have one objection or question. For Darwin natural selection is effective through sexual reproduction and thus the selected mutations are selected by women in men, otherwise, we have rape. Information is not sex-endowed. Information has little to do with the sex of the informer. Information spreads by pure repetition and not in anyway some sexual procedure. The reference to Darwin is exactly the mistake Darwin did when speaking of language. You have the right concept with the memetic selection you are speaking of but it is NOT natural like Darwin’s natural selection. It has to do with educational and social behavior which is in no way genetic.
