The statistics of what proportion do people of this or that age group represent among the deaths due to COVID-19 has to be crossed with another set: what’s the proportion of deaths in each age group, in other words, what is the death rate within each age group? That would lead to another set of data: what about other groupings than age, like ethnic, racial, national origin, educational status, and crossing them with age group data? Does education have an impact on prevention and particularly self-prevention, the way each person sees how they can prevent their being infected and their infecting others? The set of statistics used in this article is too narrow to help anyone getting a true picture of the pandemic and its death rate.
