“Random” flying over the immensity of absolute choice is no choice at all. You are manipulated by the algorithms. On Youtube, you ask for one particular artist or work and you may get the one you want but you also get a whole set of suggestions that have many of them nothing to do with what you asked for. Google does the same with any topic. You ask for one precise press article or topic and you get hundreds of answers or suggestions that have little to do with what you asked for: they follow one word in your quest and they get sidelined and you get lost. Real freedom of choice is to get what you want and what may really go along with it. You ask for Otis Redding and you get hundreds of artists who have nothing to do with Otis Redding. Free choice has to come from you and not from a most of the time commercially oriented algorithm. The real problem is then: How do you get to know what you don’t know?
