It is also in Sanskrit the Buddhist word “dhamma” in Pali meaning wisdom, knowledge, and made famous by the fundamental collection of preachings from the Budhha, the “Dhammapada,” meaning the way to wisdom, the way to knowledge, hence the way to enlightenment, to “nibbana” in Pali, to “nirvana” in Sanskrit. That’s what makes the Chinese strong today: they push their roots into their Buddhist past that becomes their Buddhist present. Buddhism is a philosophy more than a religion that insists on rational behavior and ethical life decision. This is basic in the whole Asian continent that has encountered in a way or another Buddhism. Buddhism is open to other cultures, including Islam, though due to Islamic terrorism they are very careful and at times overprotective of themselves against Islam. The recent attacks in Sri Lanka bring that simple idea to the foreground: Sri Lanka should have been a lot more cautious with their Muslims and established some surveillance, monitoring. We know the result of this negligence.
