Except that wise men know how to create a myth and make it shiny and attractive.
Think of the founding myth of Jason and the Golden Fleece, with a dragon, with teeth giving birth to soldiers, etc.
But Medea and her love for Jason, her treachery against her father and brother, and her final ordeal that led her to killing her two kids out of jealousy and spite is the central myth of guilt in European culture, a lot more pregnant than Oedipus and his killing his own father and marrying his own mother and then blinding himself when he finds out.
The story about Jesus is just beautiful and pacifying. the drama is around not in the story itself because of the menace on Jesus from the local Jewish king.
