Created in an older form in 1557 by Queen Mary I of England, then in its present form by the Statute of Anne of Queen Anne in 1710. Then it was instated into the the US Constitution in one article along with patents in 1787. And two different laws were then passed by Congress for copyright on one hand and patents on the other in 1790 and 1791.
