At the age of 13 in Europe up to after WW2 and then they closed the mines in the 70–80s. The mines that are left are more and more robotized, mechanized with no men “down” and they even have developed a technology to liquify the coal that is beyond 3,000 meters under.

This mining culture is a myth, I mean a lie of suffering and early death. I actually interviewed once an ex-miner dying of black lung, knowing that he was, playing with a cigarette he would never light, and one week later he was dead.

These miners in Europe were “natural” communists, violent and dictatorial. That’s the link between Trump and that old story of violent domination of history.

There is nothing human in mastering the darkness: even horses can do that.
